Wajer 55 - Chaseboat Acquisition, Commissioning & Operational Integration

SPARK was recently engaged to coordinate the purchase of a pre-owned Wajer 55 and its subsequent integration into the client’s mothership operation as a stand-alone chaseboat.

The Brief

Our involvement covered pre-purchase assessment and acquisition, coordination of survey and technical specialists, followed by commissioning, delivery, crew handover and ongoing operational integration.

The objective was to complete the purchase and deliver an operational vessel that could be handed over effectively to the mothership crew.

1. Define & Acquire

SPARK worked with the client and family office to assess the vessel against its intended mission, ownership structure, cruising programme and potential future commercial operation.

We appointed and briefed the independent surveyor, coordinated technical specialists and reviewed the resulting findings from an owner-side perspective.

2. Assess & Complete

As the acquisition moved towards completion, SPARK coordinated the interfaces between the client, family office, brokers, lawyers, surveyor, technicians and regulatory advisers.

Alongside the transaction, work included registration requirements, technical documentation, insurance considerations, berthing, supplier mobilisation, interim crewing and delivery planning.

This maintained continuity between completing the purchase and taking physical and operational control of the vessel.

3. Commission & Handover

Following completion, SPARK moved directly into a focused mobilisation and commissioning period.

Outstanding technical work was coordinated, systems tested, suppliers managed and issues investigated as the vessel entered regular operation.

SPARK also spent time at sea during early operations, allowing technical findings to be considered alongside guest use, crew workflow, boarding and interaction with the mothership.

4. Integrate & Support

The vessel was subsequently transferred into the mothership operation while a new captain and crew structure was being established.

Having remained involved throughout the acquisition and commissioning process, SPARK retained the project history and could provide the incoming team with technical context, supplier relationships, documentation, outstanding work and the reasoning behind earlier decisions.
