14m VIP Resort Shuttle
Concept Development & Platform Integration
SPARK developed the Synthesis S.50 Resort Shuttle in response to a requirement for premium guest transport at a remote island resort.
The operational brief called for an enclosed, air-conditioned vessel carrying up to 16 guests plus crew, with level jetty boarding, wheelchair accessibility, a private WC and optional exterior seating. Quiet, low-wake operation was important for the short primary transfer route, while sufficient performance was required for repositioning and wider inter-island use.
Our Role
With a compressed delivery programme, developing an entirely new hull and tooling would have introduced unnecessary time and development risk.
SPARK therefore investigated existing platforms that could provide the right technical foundation. A composite catamaran platform was identified and developed into an approximately 14m solution, combining an established construction route with a purpose-developed Synthesis superstructure, exterior design and guest layout.
Development started with the guest journey and resort operation rather than the vessel itself. This included boarding, accessibility, passenger flow, luggage handling, privacy, climate control, turnaround time and serviceability.
Scope
Operational brief definition
Market and platform research
Platform assessment and validation
General arrangement development
Exterior and superstructure design
Guest journey and accessibility review
Propulsion and performance definition
Technical integration
Construction strategy
Outcome
The result is a scalable resort shuttle concept combining the stability, volume and shallow draught of a catamaran with a guest experience developed specifically around luxury resort operations.
Rather than forcing the requirement into an existing passenger boat, the project demonstrates how an established technical platform can be adapted around a clearly defined operational and hospitality brief.
